Intro

Ciao! I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universiteit Utrecht, advised by Pablo Mosteiro, now visiting Nina Tahmasebi at Göteborgs Universitet. I am studying the evolution of synonyms over time, from both semasiological and onomasiological perspectives.

I previously was a PhD Candidate at Universiteit Utrecht, within the framework of the Interactive Natural Language Technology for Explainable Artificial Intelligence (NL4XAI) project, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant, under the supervision of Kees van Deemter and Albert Gatt, working in the field of Natural Language Generation from logical formulae.

About

Ever since I was a little boy, I have always liked languages and been attracted by technology. I started my university journey with a BA in Asian studies at La Sapienza Università di Roma. These studies let me widen my perspective over the human faculty of language. I concluded my BA with a dissertation in historical linguistics on the evolution of Mandarin lexicon throughout its history.

After graduating, I joined Samsung to work on the localization project of the Bixby vocal assistant for Italian. There, I got introduced to the field of computational linguistics. I yearned to learn more about the interactions that natural languages and computers can have.

This brought me to start an MSc in NLP at Université de Lorraine. During these studies, we developed a writing assistant tool, for which we got a paper published. I also had the chance to work as a researcher at ATILF and Inria labs. In my MSc thesis, I created an intelligent tutoring system that organizes the concepts to master in a language acquisition setting.

This whole journey made me fall in love with research. In 2021, I started my PhD research at Universiteit Utrecht, funded by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant, working on Natural Language Generation from logical formulae. During my PhD, I visited IIIA-CSIC and trivago for academic and industrial secondments.

I am now a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universiteit Utrecht and visiting Göteborgs Universitet. I am currently studying the laws that govern the evolution of synonyms over time.

In my free time, I love doing sports, traveling, and learning languages.
